I have known Alexandria for quite some time, so I was absolutely thrilled when she and Alec contacted me to photograph their wedding day. They’re such a sweet couple; after meeting Alec during our initial consultation, I could tell that they are each other’s best friend.
We began the day at Illusions Color Spa in South County to photograph the bride and her bridal party getting ready.
I’d like to thank the staff at Illusions Color Spa for allowing me to use their ‘prep room’ to photograph Alexandria’s dress and details. It provided the perfect environment to photograph her dress and accessories, along with her invitation stationery.
The bride puts on the final touches before departing to the St. Francis de Sales Oratory.
Saint Francis de Sales Oratory was recently awarded a prestigious title of “The Most Beautiful Church in America” after a nation-wide poll hosted by Granda Liturgical Arts. The competition was a bracket-style tournament in which many churches throughout the nation were nominated and voted upon.
As you enter St. Francis de Sales Oratory, it is no wonder why this church won the competition. It is a stunning piece of architecture and history in the Saint Louis area.
This room contained my most favorite piece of art in the church. An elegantly gilded ceiling, I could have stared at it’s intricacies forever.
As the bridal party continued to get ready in the church basement, Alec and his Groomsmen arrived to prepare for the ceremony. Alec comes from a very large family, and three of his groomsmen are also his brothers.
A last portrait before Alexandria meets her future husband at the altar.
Alexandria’s father gives her away to Alec as we witnessed their traditional, Catholic ceremony.
Introducing Mr. & Mrs. Alec Hall!
Out of all of their creative portraits, this was my absolute favorite, and one of my most favorite artistic wedding images to date. I loved incorporating the spiral geometry of the staircase. The only available light came from a small side window, softly lighting Alex & Alec.
Outside the church entrance, Alexandria’s stunning veil was swept up in a wind tunnel as she approached the front door. How lucky!
After leaving St. Francis de Sales Oratory, we made our way to the Lemp Grand Hall on Cherokee Street.
This was new – Alexandria and Alec hired a painter to create a beautiful piece of art from their reception. This is such a neat idea; I may steal it in the future. 🙂
The Coffee Cartel, where it all began.
After the cake cutting and Maid of Honor and Best Man speeches, guests were surprised with a beautifully choreographed First Dance. I had not known that Alec is a trained ballroom dancer – we were all mesmerized.
I cannot express enough how happy I am for Alex & Alec. I hope that life gives you so much joy, and so many adventures.
Congratulations, Mr. & Mrs. Hall!
